Contrary to belief, Lorem Ipsum is not random text. It dates to 45 BC, over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College, VA, looked up an obscure Latin word, consectetur, from the passage. It's source was "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero, 45 BC treatise on ethics. The first line, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", came from section 1.10.32.
The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
